farghost runs

dates: 17may13 & 19may13

distance: 31.1 miles or 26.2 miles.  remember, this is the easiest 50k in north dakota; so, if you want to run an ultra in every state, this might be your choice.

start time: 0700

start location: minnesota side of footbridge crossing the red river near 4th avenue south.

finish line: north dakota side of footbridge on bicycle path.

it's a fatass: some aid supplied near start/finish: salties, liquid and the like.  drinking fountain at south end of loop.  otherwise, bring your own fuel and bottle.  rest rooms at south end of trail; porta-potties near start/finish lines.

driving directions: from i29 take exit 65 (main avenue, business i94, us10) east 3 miles.   turn right at 2nd street south; go one block and turn left onto lindenwood drive south.  use parking lot near footbridge.

course: paved bicycle trail along red river.  from start line in minnesota cross foot bridge to north dakota side and bike path; turn left; proceed south to 17th avenue south; and then transition to roger maris drive.  proceed along roger maris drive past primative campground to drinking fountain at rest room building.  retrace path continuing north to south terrace north and turn right for less than 100 feet to short street.  turn left on short street to north terrace avenue.  turn left on north terrace avenue to north river road.  turn right on north river road to the path which is a slight angle to the right of north river road.  proceed along bike path to its end at 15th avenue north (opposite northeast corner of za-gat golf course). return to finish line.  take care when going south on short street.  there is a bike trail sign pointing both left and right on south terrace north.  take a right here.  this 12.31 mile double loop is run twice. 50k runners repeat the north portion of loop; and marathon runners go north as far as the 1st avenue bridge (third bridge path goes under) and return to start/finish line.
